Measurement

As I sit at the window of my hotel room I can’t help but feel a little uneasy. We now have 4 days until the 1st race of the 2008 Paralympics and all I see from my 5th floor window is a collection of unprepared sailing teams. One side of me is filled with a huge amount of confidence as I know that each of our teams (2.4, Sonar and Skud) have prepared to a level that has set new standards in Paralympic Sailing. Another part of me feels a weight of expectation as I look out over teams who do not have the resources and expertise that fill Team GBR.

Today, we all took on the challenge of measurement eager to see what surprises would be thrown in our path. The real surprise was that it was a painless and didn’t really eat into our daily routines. The Sonar’s had a few minor corrections to make but nothing significant. So, Acclimatisation done! Games Equipment tested, refined and perfected! Registration and Measurement check. Next stop, Race 1....

On a final note was reading an interesting book today that said we should state our goals for them to be achieved and align what inspires us with what we do for a living. Well my goal is to be part of a medal winning team and I’m inspired by working with talented individuals who aspire towards excellence.
