Team GBR dominate 2009 Worlds

John Pink and Rick Peacock delivered a superb Medal Race performance to grab the Silver Medal and cap off an exceptional week for team GBR in Lake Garda.
By beating the Italian Sebellio brothers by 4 places they jumped 3 places to their first Championship podium.
Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes finished 4th after a capsize in the final fleet race dropped them out of Gold Medal contention.
Athens Bronze Medalist Chris Draper and new partner Peter Greenhalgh finished 6th after 3 regattas back in the boat a result that puts them bang on target for their push for 2012 selection. With 4 other British teams in the top 21 boats this was an exceptional result for the team and validates all the work we put in during the build up to this championship. The Event was won by the Australian team but no other nation could deliver more than 1 boat into the top 10 in comparison to our 4. Hard work, a periodised program with clear and agreed targets helped the squad push each other to reach their potential. The team will now take a couple of weeks rest before re focusing on the Bahamas worlds in 2010 and overtaking the Aussy's!
